Environmental and Occupational Safety
The purpose of this committee is to inform and make recommendations to member companies regarding effective occupational health, environmental, waste disposal and safety improvement programs. The scope of work includes identifying changes in legislation and regulatory standards applicable to member companies and to discuss methods of meeting the standards. Involvement in safety is limited to occupational health and the formation of products as they affect the user.

Human Resources
The purpose of the committee is to promote sound human resources practices within the abrasives industry in the interest of the generation of beneficial employee relations and optimize human resource utilization in the industry. Committee activities encompass both union and non-union operations covering all aspects of employee relations, compensation and benefit issues, government regulations and legislation, productivity improvement and human resource development.

Meeting Arrangements
This committee is responsible for recommending and selecting locations for the spring and fall meetings in conjunction with the Executive Director. This committee also develops the program outline for Abrasive Conferences and recommends speakers for the alternate year’s presentations in conjunction with the Education, Conference and Workshop Committee. The committee generally holds short meetings during both the annual spring and fall UAMA sessions and meets as necessary to plan conferences.

Education, Conference and Workshop
This committee was established to develop special programs that are designed to educate the members of UAMA and those active in the abrasive industry on topics pertaining to the industry. Workshops have been developed in the past that dealt with such issues as environmental, legislative, legal trends, packaging and materials. The Association will continue developing programs to help educate its members.

Membership
This committee is responsible for securing, qualifying and maintaining the membership of UAMA. The committee makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees for membership drives and solicitation, special promotional programs related to membership, and recommendations pertaining to new or existing membership categories.

Industrial Information
Representatives who serve on the Industrial Information Committee serve to vote on any issues that may develop from the forum (held during annual meetings) to be directed to each specific UAMA Division. The members of the committee currently do not in addition to the forum. The Chairman may call upon committee members to research discussion topics prior to a meeting and to give a brief presentation.

Public Relations
This committee oversees both internal and external public relations activities for the Association. The committee coordinates the creation and distribution of UAMA newsletters, press releases, promotional materials, conference promotional materials, etc. The committee develops and promotes good relations with other industry associations, industry publications and the media.
